No contest CCS wins. I'll admit I watched cardcaptors first but the dub wasn't anywhere near as good as the Japanese! No romance between Sakura and Syaoran isn't the show!

Re: Cardcaptors VS Cardcaptor Sakura
I have to be thankful for the Cardcaptors dub. Without it, I would never have gotten into anime. At the time, I liked it. I was young, and, without prior knowledge of the Japanese version, the name changs and such didn't bother me.
Only after watching CCS did I realise how much better CSS was, and how much the dub people (not sure who licensed it) ruined it. The original names, and little things, such as the change in names used (like some said before) made the whole thing generally better.
I could talk for ages about the differences and such, just repeating what people have already said, but I won't.
I'll just say, that when you are a little kid, with no knowledge of anime or anything, Cardcaptors isn't that bad. But CCS is WAY better.

Unbelievably, the same people who created the very popular kids show The Magic School Bus, Nelvana, are the people who dubbed CCS...as a result, many, myself included, call it Baka Nelvana XD
And I will completely agree with you on being grateful. I hate the dub. They ruined the wonder and innocence that is CCS, but if they had done a good job of dubbing it, I never would've found out about anime, since it was one of the first anime series I watched. But yeah, when you're a kid, and don't know what the words "plot" and "character development" are XD you would like CC, which I did XD but CCS is what takes the cake <3

Though, the cardcaptor US anime is just so bad. They started on episode 7 or 8, cant remember witch, then skipped another few. All the romance is gone, most of the storyline is gone, most of the captures are gone.
.
Canadians were a little more fortunate than Americans in that department. Here, they aired almost all of the episodes of Cardcaptors - including the one where Sakura falls down the elevator, and Syaoran hugs her. He does embrace her - but they cut out the part where the door opens and Syaoran pulls away quickly and blushes. They also aired the episodes in the proper order - starting with episode 1. I guess the reason they didn't do so in the States was because they wanted to the show to appeal more to males - so they introduced Syaoran quickly. They didn't need to do that - plenty of males in Canada liked Cardcaptors, even when it started with Sakura and the first 7 episodes were Syaoran-less.
Syaoran had about 3-4 different voice actors. :/ None were very fitting. Sometimes, he'd call her "Avalon", but very rarely.
The "Sak-oo-rah" really killed me. I mean, I've been speaking English all my life - and I could sound it off properly!
I guess Ièm not as picky about the English names as most people. If they had to have different names, I wouldève been fine ... providing they retained the original storyline.
The only reason I started watching Cardcaptors was because I thought they maintained the relationship between Sakura and Syaoran. I was sad when I discovered they didnèt-not even in the Japanese version.
