Mangettes: Gate7

Back in July 2007, Dark Horse announced their plans for a joint project with the popular manga-group, CLAMP, to create a series of releases called mangettes. Little else has been told about the stories CLAMP would be doing for these small 80-page digests, or when we’ll be seeing these simultaneous releases… until now! Amazon has yet again provided manga fans with a glimpse into the future:

For some reason, I didn't feel anything after reading this summary, not excited not even curious.
I just guess that while the concept of Dream/Reality is as good as ever, the classical "high-school girl hailing from Kyoto, the daughter of a temple caretaker" is getting old and was overused in anime/manga; I don't feel much surprise nor excitement, not even expectation at this, even while knowing Clamp shouldn't disappoint us.

I've actually never heard of these series before and yeah, from my perspectives, I didn't feel any exitement about the story but it's good to know what other Clamp's project out there which we've never even heard of. Btw, thanks for the info

HAHA~~ I actually feel the same way... my first reaction was "o...k, that sound.... um.... 'interesting'?!" I really don't know what to think/how I will feel about the story yet ^^;;; I don't know if the news is sort of out of the blue that throw my reaction off or just that it was too sudden without any type of scans or character design and such previously we can reference as "their progress".

Hopefully in-between now and then, there will be more info and scans before the actual release, so we can all get a better grasp of it.

Hmm to be honest I'm not really familiar with who Dark Horse is ^^; first I've heard of them, actually~ but yeah, I can see what you mean. It doesn't sound too interesting, but then again there's not a whole lot there for me to really judge it just yet I suppose. So I don't really know how I feel about it right now, but if anything I'm looking forward to seeing CLAMP's part in it, I'm sure the art will make up for it ^_^

Sounds cool...I wonder if CLAMP will put crossover's in this too?

Hm... That sound a bit "dangerous" ^^;;;; Seems like there may be a delay in release... and hopefully there aren't any "issue" with release of Mangettes!?

Amazon.com and Amazon.jp have CLAMP's Mangettes: Gate 7 (both Dark Horse version) up for preorder; well, more then pre-order, you can sign up to be notified when the item becomes available (which I did 3 days back I think) ^^;;

Another site, if you're in Canada, is chapters.indigo.ca which is the store that I shop for manga from. It gives the price in Canadian (which shouldn't change, they always list what their prices will be on all pre-order items and I've never seen it change), but it's saying the release date is August 1st, so that'll probably change to the proper release date soon >.>;;

Thanks for the update ^^ though I am strangely curious WHY is the one being sold in the amazon.jp specifically/still said that the "言語: 英語" = "language: ENGLISH" ^^;; Are they just releasing all the version across the 3 countries [US, Japan, Korea] with the same languages?? I would think that they will adjust the language according to the release places

Mangettes: Gate 7 moved on my Amazon list. At Amazon.uk and Amazon.jp the date has moved to August 15, 2010.

The preorder page has disappeared from Amazon US and CA.
Amazon has been correct about previous date changes, but let's hope for a closer date.

In the end, the date will or might very likely change again, but the message is clear: no Mangette this summer (maybe in Fall?)

Yeah, on the Canadian chapters.indigo.ca site, it's been changed to August 2010 as well @_@! I wish there was a site that gave more information about what's going on with it XD (I keep thinking that with all this date hopping, maybe holic and TRC will go on longer than it had been expected? or maybe CLAMP will work on manga that's on hiatus? or even take a vacation that they definitely deserve? @.@)

Well, more then Ashura, I would say it got a *very* strong XXXHolic feeling: very fair skin + intricate clothes and patterns + the water lilies.
Hana also have very long hair, just like Kobato ^^ Hers are styled in tresses, not let loose like Kobato's though.
I gotta say that, just like chibiyuuto, I was expecting someone older and a lot less 'cute'. It's a surprise.
As for the release date, Amazon.jp still says it won't be out until august 2010, while Dark Horse says it's out to be released in 2009....So yeah, for the time being, let's just wait and see...that said, I personally think that there would very unlikely have been a preview picture now, in March 2009, if this was not supposed to be released until 08/2010 ^^;;

Amazon.co.jp no longer lists Mangettes: Gate 7 on their website.

Aww that is so messed up! I hope they get it straightened out soon or at the very least, have something official on the Dark Horse website...*sigh*

I really hope Dark Horse will release it soon after TRC and Holic ended. I mean, they should be XD
I wonder if this series is going to be popular as Tsubasa and Holic. And yeah, I hope clamp will add a few crossover characters in this series as well =)
