XXXHOLiC Shunmuki Early Screening - Info
The public screening of XXXHOLiC Shunmuki Part 1 was held yesterday in Tokyo, and here are a few highlights about both the OAD and the event itself:

Slight spoilers, maybe? Don't read if you want total surprise.

- The animation quality is better than the TV anime and closer to the movie;
- There is a connection with Tsubasa;
- There is the appearance of unexpected character(s);

- A package sample was shown. This time it'll be different than Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations. It'll be similar to Tsubasa Deluxe editions (comic + DVD case inside a hard case). Tsubasa Shunraiki will be the same.
- A 40-seconds preview of Tsubasa Shunraiki was shown. It'll be up at the official website soon.

I won't get my hopes too high about the 'unexpected character(s)', it might just end up being crossovers from others manga series and not what everyone think (=CCS|SxS...)
I simple think that the chances they would spoil CCS|SxS appearances in the anime February 17th before we've even seen them in the manga is quite low, except, of course, if we see them in the next upcoming chapters?
I guess that against all logic, I still want to believe it would be them aha~
I'm also really looking forward to the packaging :D

But I don't want to get my hopes up too high because it seems just a bit too early for them to appear...our luck, if they're going to appear it'd probably be the second Tsubasa or Holic OADs especially since they are making us wait longer D: Unless, like you say, they might appear in the manga before then? Oooh, that would be so great @.@! I like sooner rather than later :D I'm curious if it is a different crossover character though...*scratches head* none I could think of...Oh well, all the more for surprises when it comes out~~ x3

For the 'unexpected characters' appearance, in the last OAD of TRC Tokyo Revelation, they sure didn't give a damn about spoilers and showed a young CCS|Sakura...so I wouldn't completely discard the possibility of CCS|SxS appearing for real in the anime, but just not in the 1st OAD, it's too soon. Maybe in the 2nd OAD in May?

Hm... am I the only one that read the "unexpected characters" and CCS|SxS didn't cross my mind at all ^^;;; Since it is just "too" unexpected and I can hardly imagine that CLAMP after hiding them for so long, will reveal their OFFICIAL look in an xxxholic-OAD. Or unless, they will be doing a shadow figures ><;; And especially, the drawing are not under CLAMP's hand officially but under the anime production. I would expect to see adult CCS|SxS officially from a manga setting first ^__^

About the OADs of both XXXHolic and TRC, the first question would be: are those the last?
We all know that the reason those OADs are released joined to manga books and not, say, in theaters, TV or DVD in stores, is because of copyrights problems...
Both series are ending in the 5-6 upcoming months: should we conclude those will also very likely be the last anime adaptions we see...?
If this question is very important in my mind, is because those OADs could be totally different in 2 given contexts: the 1st option would be there would be a possible continuation in the future(OADs, movie?), in which case the probability they will very likely stuck closely to the manga plots like they did with TOkyo Revelation will be very high and it would be an open ending; or the 2nd option would be that there is nothing scheduled afterward...in which case the producers might try ending the whole thing through those 4 OADs, and the 4th OADs in June might actually coincide with the very last chapters of both manga...in which case we would get plenty of anime original material and lot of things skipped through to allow an ending...this is what I say but I really don-t see how they could end it without covering the Ruins and the whole original/soul/copy/flashbacks deals ^^,,

Also, although I said they didn't care about spoiling us making a young CCS|Sakura appears in the last seconds of Tokyo Revelation, but truth is most of the fans took her appearance as pure fan service or even just marketing from both Clamp and the producers (I remember some were even a bit mad saying they were really pushing it with the whole marketing and putting CCS|Sakura, who is very popular, in TRC with no reason)...no one really had a quite clear or exact idea of what was really her exact role in all this, even though many theories and doubts were born at that moment.
Making adults CCS|SxS appears in the anime before the manga would be a bit too 'violent' of a spoiler ^^;;;;; Clamp has been pretty much building up their appearance since volume 01 of XXXHolic, which was released in 2003, when both Watanuki and the old lady talked about his 'parents'!! 6 years of anticipation to see SxS!! An the more we near the end, the more Clamp kills us, throwing hints of their existences and presences here and there in both series.
Sincerely, I wonder sometimes how we all conserved out sanity through all this time... If Clamp make them stay as 'shadows' till the very end and never uncover their faces, the fans will riot their studio ^^;;;;

Back to XXXHolic OAD, I was very surprised to see a screenshot of Kohane cooking, because the moment Watanuki taught her to cook is pretty much the very last chapters released in volume 14(I guess it's normal, there is more TRC material then XXXHolic's after all).

In the end, only a few things are clear: the TRC gang are in Nihon, we will get to see the meeting between 'Syaoran' and Watanuki inside the Dream World up and very likely we will see everything up to Sakura's death in TRC, and up to Kohane's cooking classes in XXXHolic. I just wonder if all the revelations about the bond Wata/Syao will be covered in XXXHolic through a Yuuko monologue for example, because let-s face it, while TRC got more material then it should for 2 25min OAD, XXXHolic do not, all weve got is the dream meetings and Kohanes feather flowing out of her body...

^^;; I agree and disagree with you at the same time with the original ending! Yes, we don't know "yet" if there are more OAD coming the way and if so, HOW are they planning to release it??

IF we conclude that because they have no plan for further OAD and that they are planning to use these 4 OAD to wrap-up everything including the ending of both TRC/xxxholic series. Then why would they start at Nihon arc, why not just start at the recent Clow Country Arc for TRC?? AND IF we have Seishirou have that "original story" of flash back between him and CCS|Syaoran, then how much material are we cramping into TRC OAD 1 [we also need to remember that R|Syaoran's identity haven't quite revealed yet in anime ^^;;;] We can guess that they are likely to give flashback for some of celes and infinity since (A) they would need to explain a bit WHY Kurogane suddenly lost an arm (B) and WHERE in the world is Sakura??

And further more... for such a big revelation between Syaoran and Watanuki, that being explained as a plain monologue from Yuuko is really not fair though unless we have, TRC OAD 1: the scene of Watanuki and Syaoran meeting in the dream and Watanuki was asking "do you know what's the relation between us??" While Syaoran refused to say it. xxxholic OAD 1: we will have Yuuko doing the explanation of "closer than anyone else" with flashback of HOW/WHY Watanuki was created to the viewers o___O

And the reason why I said we are "cramping" the 1st OAD because IF we expect an original storyline for these OAD... all the ending between Syaoran/Watanuki and the whole conclusive connection would be likely to be re-written and concluded as original at the 2nd one since we will be completely skipping the Clow Country arc from TRC. In which, this will suggested that TRC OAD 1 is mostly: flash-back moment from previous arc [like Infinity, Celes], fight between Syaoran/Seishirou and even the climaxing moment for the fight between Syaoran/Cloney. We probably will even have the beginning part of 2nd OAD to start with C|Sakura getting stabbed and vanish into Cherry Blossom. THEN, we could have time for TRC OAD 2 to have a totally different approach from the manga.

However, I suppose all of my speculation focus entirely toward TRC side since as we know it TRC/xxxholic definitely have a connection with one another... I don't know how xxxholic would synchronize with TRC IF xxxholic side is "too much" ahead of what's happening in TRC!?

CuteSherry: Thanks for taking the time to reply :3 I suppose you're right though, it'd be great to see more OADs later on, but with the copyright problems and such I guess the only thing you'd see them be released with would be if they went further and did more character/manga guides or something to sell them with. But to me, you and YamiSakura seem to make the most sense with this stuff after reading both of your thoughts on it XD

I really can't help but wonder just how they are going to be able to cram so much into 25 minutes o_o (that's only about an hour for both series o-o) ah well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see~ :3

ETA: OR unless... TRC is the one that have all the actions and hints!! While xxxholic side is the one that will do all the explanation for Syaoran and Watanuki's identities ^^;;; That may be able to work out BUT I don't know if that will be too heavy for xxxholic to take in since it is mostly consist of explanation x____x

*cough* I think it will be a lot easier if we can have some sort of trailer/info from xxxholic to give us more clues on WHAT exactly is xxxholic planning to cover: re-telling the actual manga story for Kohane arc?? or the afterstory of Kohane arc?? [the cooking lesson? another original story?]
