X/1999 Manga

One of my fav. mangas by CLAMP. The story of 15 year old Kamui choosing the fate of the earth to either become a Dragon of Heaven (those who want to save humanity.) or a Dragon of Earth (those who want to destroy humanity.) The artwork is just plain amazing, Mokona Apapa did a wonderful job with the details and everything.

My fav. charecters would be (in no specific order.): Kamui (because he rocks and is adorable.), Subaru (Because he also rocks, needs a hug and is also adorable.), Sorata, Arashi, Inuki, Hokuto (even though she doesn't do much...) Kakyo, Fuma and Seishrou.

I've been hearing many rumors on why CLAMP stopped X and when they'll began again. I think the reason they stopped X is because of the earthquakes that's been going on in Japan, people have been talking about that alot and I'm not sure...and as for CLAMP bringing the manga back up, well I'm not patient when it comes to waiting for manga, books, movies, etc, so CLAMP needs to finish X as soon as they can. I want to know what happens!

Oh, and this is a question that has been going on in my head for a while and I don't know why. Does anyone know how old Fuma is? 'Cause he's definitly older than Kamui but he did go to the same school right? In the begining of the manga he looks about 16 or 17 but later on he looks about 20 while Kamui still looks 15 or 16. Sorry if I sound stupid but did a few years go by through out the manga?

I've seen the OVA and the ending was so sad and tragic. I felt so bad for Kamui. X is also one of my favorite manga too and it's such a pity that this awesome manga is being dis-continue.

Well, I'm not really sure about the wish, but I was bang on target with Subaru's for some odd reason. But maybe Kamui hasn't realised who he really wants to protect. *CoughSubaruCough* Sorry, I just think that it would fit. And also, everyone knows part of the ending because it is past 1999 and we are still living and breathing!

Well whatever Kamui's wish is, it is a wish that'll change something 'cause Subaru said: "If you don't realise it, nothing will change." Or something like that...okay so Subaru knows Kamui's wish 'cause Fuma told him and Fuma definitly knows so I think it has to do with switching sides or something, that's all I can think of really.

I hope he doesn't change sides because even though he would be on Subaru's side *The evil traitor!! We love you!!* it would be sad 'cause then the others would have to live with Fuuma and they don't deserve to go throught that horrible torutre. *Not a big Fuuma fan*

Also, I wonder what happens with Sorata and Hinoto's evil side. I just realised that Sorata looks adorable with the lightening coming from his hand.

I thought Kamui's wish was that he actually did want to save the Earth instead of just Fuuma.

Then again...that might be too cliche. This IS CLAMP, after all.

I actually had an idea that his wish was to save Subaru as well. I mean, I want him to be as protective (well, a little less protective) as TRC Kamui! Always protecting Subaru.... I mean come on!! I X it's all about how Kamui wants to save Fuuma but maybe he wants to vprotect Subaru as well? I don't think it would really change anything but..... Well, it was just an idea

The manga states that Fuuma is a junior in high school so he's 17 or 16 going onto 17. Since we see cherry blossoms it means it's the beginning of the school year so Fuuma's birthday may not have occurred yet. We know that Kamui's birthday hasn't passed yet since the manga says he's a sophomore but he's still 15.

Wait... Kamui's 15? So that should mean that hois birthday passed somtime in the manga.

Well, in Japan, you have to be 16 to be a sophomore, so I assumed he was 16 in the manga.

Wheras Fuuma is 17.

In summaries it says he's 15, but Fuma doesn't really look 17, especally in the latest chapters, he looks around twenty something while Kamui still looks around 15 and 16.

I haven't seen any mention of his birthday in the manga yet, but right in volume 1 you see that its mention that Kamui's 15 a couple of times and that he's a sophomore.
As for Fuuma being a junior in high school, that is true. One of the key things to know when a character is still in junior or high school is that they're wearing s school uniform. Japanese college students do not wear uniforms, not even the private colleges.

I don't mean to go off topic but something you all may not know about me is that I used to teach English in a private language school in Tokyo. I learned quite a bit from my students and I have asked them about things that I've seen in US lienced manga.

I hope Kamui is 16 because that will save me a lot of confusion.

The manga rocks! altough I think Kamui started so bad-ass and finish too kind and gay just because Kotori was killed ahhh well i suppose it was destined to be that way i tought he would just go and kill Fuma but well and Fuma looks soooo cool when he saw his mother die and his eyes and blood aohh god one of the best gore images CLAMP has drawn

Hmm, that's the opposite for me. I couldn't stand Kamui for being such a little brat and he actually improves personality wise after Kotori died. He had his reasons for behaving the way he did, but I still wanted to slap him silly.

The manga is beautifully drawn and whenever I read it I'm reminded how much I miss CLAMP's old school drawing. There's nothing wrong with how they draw today, but it lacks the detail (especially the eyes) of older CLAMP works.

Also, keep in mind that CLAMP is infamous for their homoerotic tension between their male characters, particularly in X/199 (I'm not including Tokyo Babylon because we know for a fact that it's center is the love story between Seishirou and Subaru).

*raises hand* I agree! Kamui was a little brat at first but I grew to like him and he became one of my fav. charecters!

Like with TB, it was Tsubasa that got me to read this series as well because I loved the vampire twins so much I wanted to know the real characters XD

This is one of my favourites of CLAMP as well, there's just so much to it in the story along with amazing characters. I was disappointed to learn that it had gone on hiatus...I hope CLAMP will be able to pick it up again, it'd be nice to see a good series completed.

I'd love to collect the manga, but I'm a bit reluctant about the English version since I was told that Viz flipped it like they did with Inuyasha -_- but still...blah x.x

Anyway, my favourite characters are Subaru, Kamui, Arashi, Sorata, Seishirou and Yuuto XD

Hm... just started reading... It is a little confusing... but oh, well, I'll stick with it.
There are enough X fans on here to convince me it gets better.
Also, I want to know what happens to Seishiro/Subaru, after reading TB...

It really does get better after everything starts to get cleared out. I know it was kinda confusing when I first read it too. But I had watched the entire anime before hand so it wasn't too confusing, I guess.

So I 'finished' it...
I'm glad I stuck with it, because it really is amazing... I love the drawings (even though many of the characters are just too thin...)
I hope it does end up getting published, and finished, somehow...

i just finished reading it .. wow! that was one hell of a ride! my nerves were getting fried with each chapter and when the last chapter came i was like O_O !!
man i really wish they'll continue..

my favourite characters are Subaru (ofcourse!!!), Kamui, Arashi, Sorata, Karen and Nataku..
and that other guy, i dont remmember his name, a Dragon of Earth..Yuto, i think..he was amusing!

gotta say, not a fan of X!Fuuma..even though i liked TRC!Fuuma..
