CCS new Blu-ray Box [Update as of 04/18/2009 : HQ scans]

The anime version of Card Captor Sakura will be released in Blu-ray format next year by Geneon Entertainment.

Card Captor Sakura - Clow Card - Blu-ray Box (episodes 1 to 46) will be released on March 27, 2009 (￥ 62,244 = 690 USD = 515 EUR), Total: 7 blu-ray discs.

and

Card Captor Sakura - Sakura Card - Blu-ray Box (episodes 47 to 70) will be released on June 26, 2009 (￥ 37,506 = 416 USD = 311 EUR). Total: 4 blu-ray discs.

This version will be a limited one and its production will last until March 2010.

They sure chose the right time to publish those: right when CCS|SxS are going to make their appearance in TRC *great timing guys! Japanese Marketing at its best there!*
It's nice thinking we're going to get many new CCS pictures (they will very unlikely use old images from years ago, will they? especially seeing the price it cost...) but it's also very frustrating thinking we can't get our hands on those, God, it's REALLY too expensive ;____; But I couldn't help myself and added it up in my Amazon wishlist, just to look at them T___T *I'm getting pathetic now...*

I don't understand Japanese Yen too much, so I converted it to Canadian and American dollars on a site to get a rough idea and holy !@#$! they are expensive ;_; they wouldn't be any good to me anyway since I don't have what's needed for Blu-Ray >.> but still it'd be so awesome to have~ I bet they're going to be so PRETTY *_*!

It'd be nice to see some new pictures though! Hopefully some nice screencaps from these will turn up online somewhere...<3 And the timing couldn't be any better, I hope they do make an appearance x3

As for the price o___O It is really expensive, and "amazing" thing will be there are certainly people who will buy them!!! Seriously, JPN are such rich group of people!!! Well, I mean I understand that CCS ended around 10 years ago and thus those "generation" whom are in their twenties and working *cough* except me who is still stuck at school x__x *cough*by now. But still... I could never imagine myself spending over 1,000 USD for a complete collection set!! I don't know if I should call that "true" dedication or just plain they have too much money to spend

The real scary thing would be when those DVD boxes are out of stock, seeing how it will be only released for one single year in Japan...the prices at which those are gonna get auctioned afterward will be plain insane o__o

That said, I am personally missing the DVD 15-18 (US Pioneer edition) and the sellers online sell them up to 100+ USD ¬__¬
With prices like that, it makes you think that actually getting the japanense blu-ray edition feels better money wise: if 400 USD have to be thrown out the window, a shinning 2009 new blue ray edition with new pictures sure is more appealing, compared to old DVD from years ago ^^;;

I hope someone rips these an upload them. I need super high quality CCS!

despite the quality of the cam it was recorded on, you can tell with the screen how clear and good it's going to be. Now I'm really jealous T_T

X-x I actually a little peeved they're pushing Blue-ray so soon. X_x Well, it feel soon! I still have VHS lying around! Most of my movies are VHS. X_x

Now, I wanna precise why I actually took the time to make a post here (and no, it was not only to share the link above), it's because of this line: 画面サイズ 1920×1080ＨＩＤＥＦ !!!!??????
CCS was released on TV in 4:3..and they made it into 16:9, how??!!
Anyway, if it's the case, it FINALLY exaplin the insane price of those blu-rays discs (at 100 USD per disc...)

It's too bad that it's only going to be released for two years...it'll take me forever to save up that much for DVD hahahahah since it always costs more in Canadian currency *dies* XD;;; I know for sure I'll never be able to get them myself, so I hope some screencaps will show up somewhere...they'll be so nice @_@

But yeah, I guess we can see now why the price is insane lucky person who will be able to get them T_T *goes and buys lottery tickets =_=*

The price is what pretty much what all the fans had been complaining about all along ^^;;
The fans of CCS are generally rather young, and maybe at most in college or just started working, so most really can't afford this kind of prices...
That said, if it's really confirmed that the whole 70 episodes were passed from 4:3 to 16:9, I have to confess they sure worked hard on this limited edition release...
I guess the boxes will look great too, with new art ^^

@amethyst-rose: it will be released for only 1 year actually, not even 2 (march 2009-march 2010) ^^;;



Here are some pics of the previous edition of CCS DVD Boxes: it's the 2005 edition - there are 3 boxes and cost around 30000 JPY each, there are 15DVD in total, all with new pictures as covers and also several clear files. When we will get pictures of the blue ray boxes, we will compare ^^

My my! The Blu-Ray format sounds cool, although I don't know much about it ^^'' But it sounds too expensive ;; It's someing like... like... around 4000 NIS >< I'm so jealous~~~

There UNDOUBTEDLY a rather clear difference, which makes things even more frustrating TT___TT
Not only this new blu-ray release will be in 16:9, it will also get an amazing quality (of course, it's HD...) and very likely tons of new pictures as covers of the blu-ray disc cases...but it's too expensiiiiivveee!!! >x<

Wooooow! o.o! T__T (and on top of that, i'd have to spend more money buying a DVD player that plays blu-ray @_@!) I'm at least looking forward to seeing any new art from them ^^

i want this. . but i just got the whole dvd set from christmas last year from japan alone. . .it's like i hate companies doing this . . upgrading a few years later so we have to re buy everything. . it's like no i already have it and would rather just use that. . sighs*

Well, I guess the fact it's released in whole box makes the price seems even higher?
If, for example, we just had to buy one blu-ray every 2 months, even if it was expensive, we could afford doing it progressively.
But paying more then a thousand dollars almost at once is really 'violent' X(

I wonder if there is any way I could somehow afford the second box, since the 3th season is pretty much the most interesting one for me, and having it in extra good quality would be nice...especially since I don't have it in english DVD (I only have the 1-15 DVD released by Pioneer, I'm missing the 4 last...I do have everything in fansubs for many years thought ^^)

I would so want that... but I don't want to go out and buy a new thing to play them on... Um.... does XBox 360 play Blue-ray stuff? ^_^;;;;

Not happening, I'm afraid ^^;;
This is a limited edition release that will only be available to purchase inside Japan for 1 year only...
Afterward, it will become a rare collector and be auctioned for *REAL* insane prices for being a rare quality product of a worldwide popular series.
In the end, it's quite ironical, but it's very probable that what we think are 'insane' prices now might actually end up being the cheaper those Boxes will ever be ^^;;

The Blue-ray HD quality is amazing and clean but I know I will never able to get my hands on Blue-ray^^;

@CS, Hm... strange how the "actual" disc-cover has a bigger picture than the Vol-cover ^^;;

AND am I the only one who actually find some new art design of Sakura look a bit awkward [almost like fanart style]?? Those are the noticable one: Vol 2, Vol 3, Vol 7, Vol 10, Vol 12, Vol 13 !

Anyway, as for the Blue-ray one ^^;; this will be me telling myself... IF I own any official DVD-quality version, I will be happy enough already ^___^ Though the "differences" in quality, I suppose it is good for screencapping and is the different between digital and analog.
