Re: Tokyo Babylon
I think the movie is independant from X/1999 and I also heard that Seishirou doesn't have all the power he does in the manga. I think this is mainly due to that the movie is very low budget. I started watching some of the movie the other day and I plan on watching some more later.

They only have 3/7 of the movie and I was quite sad that I coulden't see the rest...the person who was playing as Subaru is so cute! Do you agree he's cute?

Oh, I agree with you very much. It would be nice to see it come to dvd, but I'm not sure how likely that's to happen.

Re: Tokyo Babylon
The anime is not really that good. The Manga is so much better and makes a little more sense also the manga is drawn better!
But anyway, they don't really met again at the end of TB not until X

Re: Tokyo Babylon
Agrees with Nekoi-chan! I didn't like the animation for the OVA, especially, for Subaru, he just looks weird...And the plot for each OVA was weird, and so were the evil dudes, especially the guy using his blood to attack people, that was just gross.

Re: Tokyo Babylon
i just recently read this manga, and it's just so totally wonderful. if i had any doubts that clamp liked yaoi before, well, i can't doubt it anymore X'D subaru is just so cute. i started crying when he realized that he is in love with sei-chan... because i knew what would happen (cause i read X before TB.... aww..) and then it end so suddenly :\ but i'm really happy that it's continued in X, even though it's made in a way so even people who haven't read TB can read X ^^;
clamp, whatever you draw, i always start fangirling it!!! X333

Re: Tokyo Babylon
Yes, the scene where Subaru realizes that he loves Seishirou is heartbreaking, especially since I knew what the outcome was going to be. That scene has to be one of my most favorite moments. CLAMP did such a wonderful job with the expression on Subaru's face at his moment of realization.

Re: Tokyo Babylon
Ah, that was a sad part of the manga.
Don't worry, your not the only one who cried. 3 out of the 4 CLAMP members did. Ageha Ohkawa, the script writer, kept it quite, not telling any of the other three members about then ending, until they had to draw the thing.
I fell in love with TB when I read the "Smile" side story of Hokuto. That one was very sad.
And also, you know that girl, the one Subaru gave a handkercheif to, and had her face cut. What happened to her? I was thinking she might show up in X, you know to return it back to him.

Re: Tokyo Babylon
Ageha Ohkawa might have cried when she was writing it and maybe she didn't tell anybody................... but that is quite a good thing, because then they wouldn't be worrying about the ending and stuff...
That would be so cool!! And I want Yuya-kun to appear again!! That would be good!!! And Mitsuki-chan!! Now that would just be awesome! I loved TB............. I don't actually understand... wasn't there enough to make an anime?

I didn't know that they cried over the TB ending. It's not surprising though, they obviously grew attach to the characters. Thanks for that little tidbit :)

Re: Tokyo Babylon
I would cry to if I was writing it and not tell anyone what happens. Thanks for the intresting info, even the wonderful and twisted CLAMP could cry. I don't blame them, TB is so heartbreaking, even though it only has 7 volumes and they're so short, TB has grown to be my fav. of all CLAMPs works.

CLAMP would definately be attached to the characters, I mean, who said thta you can't be a fan of you own story? And who can blame them? I haven't come across a single person who doesn't like Subby

Re: Tokyo Babylon
That's true, on fanfic when I read reviews for a fic with Subaru in it, they don't say anything bad about him and stuff. Subaru's an awesome charecter and is my fav. one of all time, and if anyone does say anything bad about my beloved Subby I'll whack them on the head with a mallet.

Re: Tokyo Babylon
Subaru is simply a gorgeous character. He has a beautiful mind with a pure heart, but yet he isn't one of those annoying "perfectly pure" characters. He has flaws and he knows it (his self esteem is drastically low because of it). So when Seishirou broke him, he broke us all.

I agree. A lot of characters, when they have a pure heart they are just too pure. But with SUbaru, because he has such a pure heart, he actually piks out his flaws but I tyhink the saddest thing is that he can't get passed them.. that makes me want to cry sometimes.
And yes, even though I love Subaru torture (don't ask) I was begging Seishiro to stop torturing Subby..................... And I think the saddest part of it all is Subby's expressions. They just make you want top reach in there and hug him so tight and cry with him.............. and also how we saw him change. I still hate Seishiro for that!!!

Re: Tokyo Babylon
It was actually Tsubasa that got me to read this series, since I hadn't actually heard of it before ^^; I loved the vampire twins so much that I wanted to know the stories of the real Subaru and Kamui so I google'd it and found out that it crosses over with X so I read TB first.
And I absolutely loved it!
It's a great series, definiately a classic in my mind. I like it enough that I've gone and ordered the 7 volumes so I'm looking forward to getting those and reading the official translations XD
Subaru and Hokuto are definitely one of the best animanga siblings ever XD I love them! Both are favourite characters of mine and I like Seishirou too, even if he's totally messed up and turns out to be the bad guy. He has his cool moments too and some awesome images of how cool he can look too XD
I've seen the OVAs, but not the movie yet. I agree that it should've been made into an actual anime series...I think it would've been really good...
Anyway, this is one of my top favourite CLAMP series ^^ despite the sad ending ;-;

This is also my top favorite CLAMP series :) There's something incredibly haunting about TB that I haven't yet seen in other CLAMP works.

So, I started reading Tokyo Babylon.
I like it. Hokuto annoys me slightly, but generally, it is really good.
I'm on volume 4 now...

Please do! It's a beautiful story and in my personal opinion, CLAMP's true masterpiece. You won't regret it.
